Stonehill’s Smith Named Longstreth/NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year

GILBERT, Ariz. – Stonehill junior forward Kacie Smith has been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Player of the Year, it was announced on Friday.

Smith was previously named the Longstreth/NFHCA Division II East Region Player of the Year for the second straight season earlier in the week.  

Smith had another outstanding season as she repeated as the Northeast 10 Player of the Year and also earned a first-team selection on the Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-American Team for the second straight year.

Smith set the NCAA Division II single-season record with 41 goals in 2017 and finished with a conference record 99 points. Smith led all NCAA divisions in both goals and points. She also led Division II and set a school record with 17 assists.

She becomes the second Longstreth/NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year from Stonehill in the past three seasons, with Erika Kelly winning the honor in 2015.
