GILBERT, AZ - Senior Nina Klein has been named as the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/ NFHCA Division I National Scholar Athlete. The National Scholar Athlete Award is presented to the 2017 Division I NFHCA All-American honoree who earns the highest cumulative GPA through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
A 2017 NFHCA First Team All-American, Klein started all 23 games in goal for the 2017 NCAA Division I National Champions. She recorded a career-high 12 shutouts and allowed just 0.87 goals per game during the 2017 campaign. Klein boasted a .816 save percentage and posted a career-high 71 total saves during her final season with the Huskies.
Klein was selected to the 2017 NCAA All-Tournament Team, was named to the 2017 NFHCA Mideast Region First Team, and was selected to the 2017 BIG EAST All-Conference First Team. She earned 2017 NFHCA National Academic Squad honors and was selected as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher.
